A real diva takes the prize! Dana International is a very well known transsexual pop singer in Israel. Watch Dana’s unforgettable performance.

Israel’s first win. This song tells of an encrypted language so that children could share love secrets.
3. Hallelujah -Gali Atari and Milk and Honey (winner 1979)
The 1979 Eurovision contest took place in Jerusalem after Israel’s 1978 win . This fantastic song gave Israel its second win in a row in the Eurovision contest. The song has soon become an Israeli anthem.

Shiri Maimon: Meet the Israeli Singer that You Ought To Know
Shiri Maimon is one of the most popular Israeli singers today. Shiri became known to the Israeli public as one of the front-runners in the israeli version of American Idol (Kochav Nolad). Shiri came in second in this competition, but did it stop her? Shortly after Kochav Nolad finals. Shiri made an internationally name for herself when she represented Israel in the Eurovision Song contest, 2004. Shiri gave an unforgettable performance with the song – HeSheket Shenishar – one of my favorite pop songs ever – which brought Israel to the fourth place. She gave a great performance even though she was sick. As far as I’m concerened Shiri is a winner!
If you’d like to listen to the English version of Hasheket Shenishar . 2005 was a wonderful year for Shiri Maimon: she released her debut album which was an instant success with four top of the chart hits. Soon after its release, Shiri’s debut album went gold. Watch one of her first hits – Ahavah Ktana (Little Love) with more than 700,000 views on youtube!
